Wow, it's 2010! This is so exciting on so many levels. So last night was our first NYE here. We weren't exactly sure what to do so we just kinda hung out. This involved a trip to the coffee shop for a nice hot latte and then down to the BLVD. to check out the crowds that were camping out on the streets for the Rose Bowl Parade. It was nuts. I've heard different things about what people have to endure to ensure a great view of the parade, but I had no idea how it would really look down there. Unfortunately I forgot my camera so there are no pictures, but let's just say that all the stories I've heard in the past were probably true. And although it seemed like a lot of chaos, it also looked like a lot of fun. Some people were bbqing, laid out mattresses, had fires going to keep warm, and video games and card tables set up to help them make it through the night. Who knows you just might see us out there next year! Oh, I can't forget the cool bookstore we stumbled upon. I treated myself to two books ^_^!!!
When we got back home the dinner Kyung was cooking was just about complete. In Korea, a traditional dish called Galbi Jjim is usually made during the holidays, so Kyung made it last night. Ok, I just have to tell you that my husband is normally a really good cook, but when I tasted this dish, he became a master chef. Words really cannot describe how good the meal was. The beef was like butter and all the flavors were having their own little New Years party in my mouth! It was by far the best meal Kyung has EVER made! And tonight I'm sooo excited because we have leftovers for dinner! And we get to share the leftovers with my daughter who just moved here today! What a way to start the new year: good food shared with those you love!
This year we'll be using cloth napkins more often to cut down on our paper use. Just one of many things to do in 2010.
Did your daughter move in with you?
